But these kids absolutely love music. Just not my music. They have discovered some of the latest pop heroes, among them Big Time Rush, Ke$ha (pictured), Victoria Justice and Taio Cruz. They gravitate toward rap and hip-hop sounds, stuff with a lot more contrived electronic production than actual musical instrumentation. But, argues my son, "I think it's good-sounding music. It's just fun."
Enough said. As long as you enjoy it, it's all good. And as a result of hearing their tunes around the house so much, I've actually grown to appreciate it. I probably won't be deleting Black Sabbath or Genesis to make room for their stuff on my iPod, but I'm finding I can enjoy a catchy beat and smooth-as-silk pop vocal as much as the next guy.
