But there’s never been a better time to let her know how important she is to me. How much I appreciate what she does for our family. How her smile, her giggle, the sparkle in her eyes just make everything OK. How stealing a glimpse of her when she’s doing something, anything, and she's unaware I’m watching, sets my heart aflutter.
I’d be lying if I said we didn’t irritate each other from time to time. It’s not all lovey dovey. Let me tell you, she won’t hesitate to condemn some of my musical tastes (watch out Dinosaur Jr). But we share an indestructible bond, one that has ushered us through the proverbial thick and thin, that celebrates our differences and grows stronger because of them. I have her back and she has mine. We want to be together and we must be together.
Today, on her special day, I thank my lovely bride for all the joy and meaning she brings to my life and the lives of our children and so many others.
Some birthdays call for ice cream and cake. Others, like this one, are reserved for reminding the birthday girl how deeply she’s appreciated. Now that I think about it, I don't see any good reason why we shouldn't indulge in a bit of ice cream and cake this time around! Bring on the treats!
Happy Birthday, Honey. You’re the best!
"Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be."
